Ahead of Durga Puja, the Kamakhya Devalaya Management Committee has decided to reopen the Kamakhya Temple complex for the devotees on Sunday to enable them to perform Parikrama of the Shrine. The main doors leading to the inner sanctum sanctorum of the temple will however remain closed.
All devotees have to undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for COVID-19 at the medical camp organised by Health Department of Assam near the entry point at Kamakhya Foothills. Those who have tested within last 3 days will are being allowed to visit the temple upon showcasing their reports.
Devalaya Management committee informed that the decision has been taken after discussion with the district administration. The devotees will have to follow Covid 19 protocol and per day maximum 500 devotees will be allowed to perform Parikrama. However on Sunday only 211 devotees turned up for Parikrama as many devotees were reluctant to undergo the Covid tests.
Arrangement for Thermal screening and sanitisation has been done at the main gate. Moreover no entry would be given to people without face mask. Everyone will have to maintain social distancing.
